About Us

Trinity Malpas is an active, friendly fellowship situated in northern Newport (S Wales) just 5 minutes from Junction 26 of the M4 on the A4051. It has a 75 strong membership.

Details of the Trinity Leadership Team, comprising of Revd Keith Jarvis and Elders Mr Ken Morrow and Mr Steve Waters, can be found on the Trinity Leadership Team page.

Visitors to any of our services at Trinity will be assured of a warm welcome.

Who are we?

Keith Jarvis, our Pastor, was once a Fireman. After many years of putting fires out, God now uses Keith to start Fires  in the Holy Spirit. Behind every good man is a good woman, and Keith is no exception. His wife, Barbara, has faithfully served Trinity as leader of the Worship Group.

The Church also has two Elders: Ken Morrow and Steve Waters.

Trinity has its priority in Worship, Preaching the Word, Prayer, Healing and Revival. A variety of worship services, Bible studies, prayer meetings and other events are held, seeking both to teach and encourage God’s people, as well as fulfilling our mission to reach other people with the Gospel.  Our services are open to everyone and forms and times of worship vary, so we pray that everyone can find God’s presence in our  meetings.

We express love for God through our love for one another and for those around us. Following Jesus’ teaching, our emphasis is on pastoral care, which means caring for church members and other people in the community. To this end we are active in the local community.

It is the purpose of the Presbyterian Church of Wales (of which Trinity is a part) to worship God and spread the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Presbyterian Church of Wales also employs and supports chaplains and community workers all over Wales.

Vision Statement

We desire,

individually and corporately, to Know Jesus Better and Make Jesus Known to others through a life devoted to:

  • The Word,
  • Worship
  • Prayer
  • Witness, empowered the Holy Spirit.
We believe that,

‘Making Jesus Known,’ and, ‘Knowing Jesus Better,’ is a simple yet memorable statement of purpose. This vision summarises both:

  • The Greatest Commission:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit … ” – Matthew 28:19 (NASB)

  • The Greatest Commandment:
“And He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment.”” – Matthew 22:37-38 (NASB)

It is our belief that this vision gives us clarity of direction and purpose.

What We Believe

  • The One true God who lives eternally in Three Persons: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
  • The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
  • The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God: fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
  • The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for Creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
  • The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
  • The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the Cross, dying in our place, paying the price for sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
  • The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; His ascension to the Father and His reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
  • The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
  • The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
  • The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers: given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the Gospel.
  • The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost and establish a new heaven and new earth.

Trinity Leadership Team

Keith Jarvis

Pastor/Elder

Keith was a Fire Officer before becoming Pastor of Trinity over 25 years ago. He has been gifted in both Bible teaching and Deliverance ministry. Keith is also devoted to equipping and releasing the Church to be the Church that Christ wants her to be.

11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. – Ephesians 4:11-13 NASB

Ken Morrow

Elder

Ken, an ex bricklayer, now concentrates on building the Kingdom here on earth. He has a passion for Evangelism and Men’s ministry. Ken is also Pulpit Secretary.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘But the righteous man shall live by faith.’ – Romans 1:16-17 NASB

Steve Waters

Elder

Steve, an ex soldier, policeman and paramedic, is the latest addition to Trinity’s eldership team. He has a gifting in teaching the Word in Bible studies and a commitment to pray for the nation of Britain. During his working life Steve has seen most of life’s tragedies but now his desire is to see people build their lives on the Rock, Christ Jesus.

34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.- Proverbs 14:34 NASB

“1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:1-2 NASB

“2 All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord,
And they shall glorify Your name.”

Psalm 86:9 NASB

“1 The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble; He is enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake! 2 The Lord is great in Zion, And He is exalted above all the peoples. 3 Let them praise Your great and awesome name; Holy is He. 4 The strength of the King loves justice; You have established equity; You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob. 5 Exalt the Lord our God, And worship at His footstool;Holy is He. 6 Moses and Aaron were among His priests, And Samuel was among those who called on His name; They called upon the Lord and He answered them. 7 He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud; They kept His testimonies And the statute that He gave them. 8 O Lord our God, You answered them; You were a forgiving God to them, And yet an avenger of their evil deeds. 9 Exalt the Lord our God And worship at His holy hill, For holy is the Lord our God.”

Psalm 99:1-9 NASB

“10 When the priests came out of the holy place, the cloud filled the Lord’s temple, 11 and because of the cloud, the priests were not able to continue ministering, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple.”

1 Kings 8: 10-11 NASB

“28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is a consuming fire.”

Hebrews 12:28-29 NASB

“8 And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.’ 9 And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 ‘Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

Revelation 4:8-11 NASB

“I can safely say, on the authority of all that is revealed in the Word of God, that any man or woman on this earth who is bored and turned off by worship is not ready for heaven.”

A.W. Tozer; 1897-1963

“We need to discover all over again that worship is natural to the Christian, as it was to the godly Israelites who wrote the Psalms, and that the habit of celebrating the greatness and graciousness of God yields an endless flow of thankfulness, joy, and zeal.”

J.I. Packer; 1926 – present

“The end we ought to propose to ourselves is to become, in this life, the most perfect worshippers of God we can possibly be, as we hope to be through all eternity.”

Brother Lawrence 1614-1691
